“Safe Work Month is about reminding ourselves that knowing the risks is not enough. We must own those risks, individually and as a team, every time we carry out any high-risk tasks,” – Chris Doble, Superintendent Roasting.

This year’s Safe Work Month theme is “Know the Risk, Own the Risk” and it was the chance for our teams to stop and think about the risks in our workplace, and how we manage them. 

Together with our fellow Korea Zinc Australian subsidiaries, we got together to share the unique risks in our work environments and how we take ownership of them every day.

Thank you to Matt Topp and Chris Doble for showcasing the unique risks within our Leaching and Roasting areas of the plant at SMC, and how we own them as a team. Thanks to Jason Brown, Director of Risk and Assurance at SMC, for his leadership and for sharing his perspective on the importance of knowing and owning risk.
