Refinery Operator Multiple

As a Sun Metals Refinery Operator, you will safely and efficiently operate, clean and maintain area plant and equipment to ensure a balanced operation so that production targets are met.  You will work in a team environment on a continuous shift roster of 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off.

You should be willing to learn new skills and adapt to new challenges. You will demonstrate a positive and proactive approach and take accountability for work performance.

You will need to be physically capable to work in hot and/or dirty conditions, walk on uneven ground, climb ladders and enter confined spaces.

High Risk Work Licences such as Forklift (LF), Cabin Gantry Crane (CB) and Elevated Work Platform (WP) or remote Gantry Crane (LBG) qualification are desirable.

Mechanical Tradesperson Mechanical Maintenance

This critical role supports the mechanical maintenance team, this will involve working with fixed and rotating plant equipment which includes conveyors, fans and blowers and agitators, ensuring the safe production of cost effective, quality zinc products. 

With your Trade Certificate (Cert III Engineering) and strong focus and commitment to safety, you will have gained experience in minerals processing operations or similar heavy industry.  You can execute both planned and breakdown maintenance on fixed plant and rotating equipment. 

Monday to Friday roster with monthly RDO’s and opportunity for overtime.

Electrical Tradesperson Electrical Maintenance

Sun Metals is seeking experienced Electrical Tradespeople to join our Maintenance Team due to the plant's expansion. These roles will be shift roles (Lifestyle Roster). These positions report to the Electrical Maintenance Team Leader.  

This is a shift role working the lifestyle roster, this roster is made up of 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off, 5 on, 5 off, including day and night if leave coverage is required.

The key responsibilities include: preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting a wide variety of electrical motor control systems, troubleshoot various instruments used in Process control, carry out switching of HV equipment when required and interpret various Electrical, pneumatic and P&ID drawings.

Applicants must have a relevant Electrical Trade Certificate with post trade experience and a Queensland Electrical Fitter/Mechanic licence issued by the Queensland Electrical Safety Office. Experience in a refinery or similar heavy industry is desirable.

Electrical Tradesperson (Day Shift) Electrical Maintenance

Sun Metals is seeking experienced Electrical Tradespeople to join our Maintenance Team due to the plant's expansion. These roles will usually work Monday to Friday (Day shifts) but be available for breakdowns and shift coverage. These positions report to the Electrical Maintenance Team Leader.  

  Key responsibilities will include, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot a wide variety of electrical motor control systems, troubleshoot various instruments used in Process control. You will need the ability to prioritise work in demanding situations, carry out switching of HV equipment when required, work with Process Operators and other Trades and interpret various Electrical, pneumatic and P&ID drawings.

Overhead Crane Electrical Operator Mechanical Maintenance

Reporting to the Reliability Planner, this role will carry out preventive maintenance on fixed cranes, as well as various pieces of fixed plant equipment.  You will maintain, diagnose, repair and replace plant and equipment to maximise ongoing reliability of plant processes through safe and efficient practices.  Additionally, you will coordinate contractors who provide crane maintenance and third-party inspections.

You will develop, implement and continue to improve the site's maintenance program, which includes preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance activities and associated documentation.  Through activities ranging across integrity, reliability, condition monitoring, lubrication, modifications, installations and inventory management, you will provide practical input into operations/maintenance teams to optimise process performance with a strong focus on life cycle asset management.

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, you will be involved in ensuring the safe efficient receipt, stock management and distribution of materials on site to support business activities.

Sun Metals currently has an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician suitably experienced in chemical analysis to join our laboratory team.

You will assist operating departments to control process and product quality by analysing samples using wet chemical techniques and instruments, checking, recording and reporting of test results and taking care of laboratory equipment.

Enviromental Advisor Environment

Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, the Environmental Advisor will focus on the development and implementation of the environmental management system, conduct environmental monitoring, investigate incidents and participate in improvement projects on site.

In addition to duties conducted at the Sun Metals site, this position also offers the opportunity to support our ship loading and unloading operations at the Port of Townsville. 

With your Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or engineering, you will have experience with the application of ISO 14001 Environmental management system standards and sound knowledge and understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
